This Max for Live device is designed with artists that use a sample based audio workflows in mind. Specifically those that involve the repitch warp mode in audio clips. For those who don't know, Ableton offers a variety of warp modes which make working with audio a lot of fun. It's a joy to explore the idiosyncrasies of each warp mode and how they each affect the sound, repitch being one of them.

The repitch mode is the only one that does not offer the transpose feature, however you can still adjust pitch as a function of the audio clips internal BPM. If doubled, then the clip becomes longer and therefor the waveform stretches and oscillates slower resulting in a percieved lower pitch sound. The opposite occurs if you half the BPM. This is easy enough to calculate but the issue arises when you want to calculate odd intervals such as fifths, thirds, and even tritones. Especially a few octaves away. This calculator uses an exponential function to calculate the new BPM needed in order to transpose the clip to the desired new pitch. All you need to do is input the clips current BPM and the desired transpose amount and the device will immediately output the needed BPM to change to.

I hope this helps make your life easier like it does for mine. If you have any feedback or ideas feel free to contact me.
